It is a fundamental concern of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession in Austria to introduce the Protestant voice to the current societal issues. Lately, these were issues of terminal care, the topic of homosexuality, women in leading positions of the Church, a remarkable dedication to the issue of refugees, and the ethical challenges of biomedical sciences.

The Evangelical Church A.C. is member of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in Austria (ÖRKÖ) and the Lutheran World Federation (LWF). The sound ecumenical co-operation alleviates the dedication of the churches en route to a united Europe – e.g. as hosts of the “Danubian Church Consultations” for the area of Central and South Eastern Europe as well as through co-operation in the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and in the Leuenberg Church Fellowship (CPCE = Community of Protestant Churches in Europe).
